Dr.
Joyce Stroud
attended St. Joseph Public Schools and graduated from
Benton High School. Dr. Stroud graduated from Missouri Western State
College. Dr. Stroud attended Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago,
graduating with the degree of Doctor of Optometry. Dr. Stroud has been in
the practice of optometry since 1984. Before becoming an optometrist Dr.
Stroud taught elementary school in both Missouri and Iowa.
Dr. Stroud is
active in professional and public service. Dr. Stroud has a passion for
horses and has ridden since childhood. She is an accomplished
hunter/jumper, endurance and competitive trail rider, and an eventor. Dr.
Stroud is married and has two children. Her daughter is a student of
architecture at the University of Nebraska, while her son is a senior at
Central High School.

Dr. Paul
Marshall was born and raised here in St. Joseph, MO. He graduated from
Lafayette High School. He received his undergraduate degree from Missouri
Western State College. He received his Doctorate Degree in Optometry from
the University of Houston in Houston, Texas. While there he worked as a
research assistant for the University of Texas Health Science Center and
received specialty training in various clinics including pediatrics and
low vision.
He has served
on the Board of Directors of the Missouri Optometric Association and The
American Red Cross. Locally he has received the St. Joseph News Press
Peoples Choice Award as Favorite Eye Doctor for the last five years. He
has been associated with the Spec Shoppe since 1996 and currently resides
in St. Joseph with his wife Mona and son Mason.

Dr Stacy Simmons
graduated with honors from Pacific University in 1997 with a Doctor of
Optometry. After doing internships at Washington School for the Blind
and Children’s Hospital, she developed a special interest in children’s
vision. Dr Simmons decided to continue her education and completed a
Masters in Education, Vision Function and Learning. At graduation, she
was awarded the Outstanding Graduate Award from the American Optometric
Association.
After graduation, Dr Simmons was commissioned in the US Army and served
four years a Chief of Optometry in Mannheim, Germany. While in the army,
she had diverse experience from treating eye infections and injuries to
fitting contacts in soldiers and their families.
When not at the Spec Shoppe, Dr Simmons is busy with her two young sons
Cole and Carson. Her husband, Terry Simmons is a family practice doctor
in Kansas City.
Dr Simmons gladly accepts new patients and is committed to providing
complete family eye care in the St Joseph community.
